How it started.
Reap the Harvest Foundation was founded by Austin Henderson during a season when football (the platform he had built his life around) was stripped away. In that time of prayer and surrender, Matthew 9:37 was laid on his heart: "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few." That simple yes became a mission. Austin's vision was shaped over more than sixteen years of playing football, where he saw firsthand how sports build relationships and strengthen the spirit, soul, and body. Through prayerful obedience, he launched Reap the Harvest with the belief that it would serve as a living testimony to the goodness and power of God.
What started as a single camp in Lynchburg has grown into a multi-city ministry reaching kids and families across the nation through sports, worship, and outreach. We are committed to raising up the next generation of champions for Christ, showing young people that they are not alone, that they have purpose, and that there is hope.
Emily joined the mission a few years after its founding, bringing a shared passion for sports ministry and the Great Commission. Through her experiences traveling internationally for missions work, she saw how sports transcend language barriers, creating connections where words cannot. She believes sports are a universal language that opens the door for authentic relationships, meaningful conversations, and the planting of Gospel seeds across cultures and communities. Together, they are committed to using the platform the Lord has given them to exalt His name.
Mission, vision, and values.
Mission
To reach kids and families with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through free sports camps, community worship, and street outreach.
Vision
A generation that knows the love of Christ, reached through the games they love, the communities they live in, and the word of God.
Values
- Gospel first. Everything we do points to Jesus.
- Free to the family. Cost never stands between a kid and our ministry.
- Excellence. We coach, host, and serve with the highest standard.
- The local church. We partner with churches, not around them.
What we believe.
The Word of God
We believe the sole basis of our faith is the Bible, God's infallible, written Word, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.
The Trinity
We believe there is one true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Is God
We believe Jesus lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of mankind by dying on the cross as our substitute. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and continually makes intercession for His own as the only mediator between God and man.
Salvation
We believe salvation is a free gift of grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ, not by works, and that every believer is called to a life of obedience and faithfulness.
The Church
The Church is the body of Christ, composed of all who profess saving faith in Jesus Christ alone.
The Great Commission
Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the Gospel worldwide and make disciples of all nations. Our calling is to go and fulfill the Great Commission, in Lynchburg, across the nation, and to the ends of the earth.
